Where the roses used to be.

They say you should take time to smell the roses, but I cant find any at this time of year. However, I do have a beautiful canal to walk down, where I can take pictures of where roses used to be. I like taking pictures of my canal. The leaves, flowers and anything else that takes my interest.
I'm challenging myself -no,training myself to take pictures everyday. Teaching myself to work from manual.Learning how to make my camera work with me and for me. I have standards that I want to reach and goals that I want to achieve. When I look back in a year from now I need to see progress and change.I may not be able to make the whole change overnight but I can change one thing- daily.

St.Ives

I'm not sure if I have always been this way.Maybe its just because I'm older that I realize time is flying by and you cant freeze it. But I cant help trying. There are 2 people in my life who are extremely important and make me a lot of who I am. I recently made a DVD of their pictures that we had in the attic, and it spread through 35 years-of love. But I wanted something recent, something that I had taken and captured through my eyes. My mum and dad are still in love. So in love. I gave them a picture of themselves as part of their christmas presents. I intend in giving them many more :-) Here a few from the day....

My way.With Love.

I heard a great statement the other day that pretty much summed me up to a T at the moment. It was the basic fact that you can’t wait around for the perfect brief, the dream shoot or location. What you have, is what is around you. For me-this is the people in my midst. The locations that I am near and the equipment that I have. As the year is coming to and end, and the new one is approaching I am looking back at the humble few months that have passed. I have completed a few personal challenges and made new friends in the industry.
With the remaining days left of the year, I intend to take more pictures. Hone in on my skills. And learn more from my mistakes. It’s a beautiful time of the year, and I intend to remember it. My way. With Love.

Katie in the Park.

She is 3. Going on 33. She laughs, she sings, she natters. She is herself. After spending about 40 minutes with Katie in the park, I realised that she may be small but her personality is BIG. You can't help but think she is adorable- she has that effect. I photographed Katie for her mum Paula. They have moved into a new house, but there are no new pictures, no recent grown up smiles on the walls. This is for them, to remember their new start together. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing Katie, and I hope that her mum likes them. But she is super cute, so I don't think we will have any problem here.....

Lights.Camera.Action.

Last night I was able to help my friend Steve with a photo shoot that he was doing for a Leather Shop – NextOne. Even though I wasn’t actually taking the shots, the experience was invaluable. Learning how to set up shop, set the lights, work with the light meter and see how the pros doo! Sets don’t have to be stuffy and boring and full of direction, they can be fun, relaxed, spontaneous and completely enjoyable! I was getting the insight on how to make the most of your setting and capturing the personality of your models on camera, not an easy task.
But it was fun, and didn’t seem like work and the few hours that we were there went fast. I adjusted a collar or two here, corrected a stance somewhere else and threw snow for effect at the end. All in all, I think I had the hardest job. ;-)
