There are certain types of people that are always upbeat. Always laughing.Always smiling.Francine is one such person. I have known her for 10 years this year, and she has always been this way. We met at Intake High School and have remained close friends ever since. In face, she is one of my best!

She is now a fully qualified dance teacher for Dance for Life, and her portfolio needed some updated images.

When she asked me to do her head shots for her, I know we were going to have fun. She wanted something that was just a little different to your normal theatre shots.So that's what we did.

I may be biased but Fran - you look FAB on these pictures! I hope you like.

Inspiration for brides.

Just one of the things that I love about being a wedding photographer, is meeting all the different brides. Each bride is so unique and has her stamp to put all over her wedding. From themes to favours. Invitations to food. Flowers to dresses. The list – it goes on. I am an avid blog reader, of all sorts and on my many blog reads I have come across some great websites that offer a lot of inspiration for brides. DIY projects, themes, colour schemes. A smorgasbord of beautiful eye candy.
My job as your wedding photographer is to capture all this. Your details. Your stamp. Your individuality.To help brides that have booked me as their photographer or are maybe thinking about booking - or perhaps you just like to look at pretty things- I have created an Extras page on my website. This is a page for all things extra special that can inspire a bride for her wedding. There will be some website links and some layout spreads appearing to show case all things nice.

So. Something a little different. This year I have taken the executive decision (because it is my blog) to include more of me for you! I want the people that read this to know me.Potential clients I would love for you to get to know me. Passed clients I want you to stay knowing me.

So. This weekend me and Jim took ourselves for a walk. A long.Muddy.Walk. I think by the end of it even Alf wished he was at home.

The rarest thing in the world....

When Mal first approached me for these pictures, I felt honoured. To me, Mal is the sort of person who keeps things to herself,watches and listens. She is such a nice woman. She is the sort of person who put's other before herself. Never thinking twice about it. So,when she asked if she could have a little pamper time, with make up and pictures, something just for her, I said YES!

When we started the shoot it was like many shoots are when you have a lens in front of you. Strange.Odd. Awkward. But. As we began to take pictures, walk, talk and laugh the real Mal started to shine through. Fabulous Mal, outside and in.

Mal I hope you are a rarity and are pleased with your pictures.

Garry and Emma's winter wedding.

The weeks leading up to the wedding,snow was falling heavily.Just like theirpre wedding shoot. However just in the days before, the temperature was now warming up and rain was forecast. But, as fate had decided it didn't rain. In fact it was nothing less but a beautiful, crisp winters day. I started my day off with the boys..... all 11 of them.

I then headed over to the hotel where the girls where getting ready. There I met the lovely bridesmaids.

At the hotel there were a few last minute details to take care of so preparation pictures were not wanted. Which is fine, I will always accommodate the bride. This is her day. I am just the story teller.

The ceremony was held at Keighley Shared Church. It's really quite lovely inside. I love the old stained windows they really add something to the atmosphere.

The reception was held at the Ramada Jarvis,Bingley. It has the feel of an old castle and inside the interior is all dark wood.

You might have guessed by now but the theme for the wedding was black and pink. Which was carried out into the dining area. The table decorations had all the sparkle and twinkle of Christmas without being over the top. Crackers and tiny presents as favours. Reindeer's as table names and beautiful winter trees as centre pieces.

When it was time for the speeches, we had all the flavour of rugby boy banter but they were aslo straight from the heart. As Garry stood and told his family and friends, how he loved the lady he now calls wife there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Included me. An expression of love is such a strong and powerful thing.

When dinner was over and the evening reception was beginning to get in swing Garry and Emma wanted some pictures outside. Even though it was dark. I was prepared and more than happy to oblige.

Something about the below image draws me to it. It isn't posed. Not everyone is looking at the camera. But to me it, I see happiness.

Garry always knows how to make Emma laugh.

Happy New Year to everyone. Today has been exactly how I want my new year to start. Doing what I love to do - long may it continue. It has been such a good year! So many things have happened.Things I didn't think wouldhappen. I want to wish everyone who reads this a fabulous 2011. May you have extra love and laughter.

I will end with the last pictures for the year. Something that I rarely post. (for good reason as you will see) A picture of me. This was taken on Whitby beach and I found a love heart shaped stone. Happy New Year.

Garry and Emma Preview

Just under a couple of weeks ago I had my last, but definitely not least, wedding for 2010. The bridal party was one of my biggest yet and were all so much fun. As with it being the lead to Christmas editing has gone to longer than usual but I wanted to show a little preview from my morning shots with the boys. They all look very dapper indeed. It felt like a private diary when I first started. My little thoughts being written out loud. Small achievements being documented. Airing the frustrations that I sometimes came across and still do. I never expected this blog to be read by anyone but my nearest and dearest and the people I take pictures of. Naturally.
So to know that people in Belgium. Brazil. Japan. Germany -to name a few have looked at my blog I was elated. Really, I was. I would love to know how you look, who you are, what you like- how you found my blog!?!

To the people that leave a little note of hi and encourage me. Thank you. You don’t know what it means to me that you took the time. It means a lot.

Garry and Emma

They already knew each other through mutual friends. They had already seen each other before. But now a question was asked and on the 12th June 2009 Garry and Emma had their first date.That night they got on.Like a house.On fire. Emma knew from then on this was serious.Their lives had just changed. Forever.

Emma and Garry met again that weekend,it was her birthday. A question was asked. Garry asked if they could date. Exclusively. And Emma,she said yes.

At a motown concert 6 months later a question was asked. This time it was a proposal.A commitment. A friendship. A romance. A love story. Garry asked Emma to marry him.And Emma. She said Yes!

When we met to shoot their pre wedding shoot on Sunday I was nervous. This was the first real time we had metand there was snow. But I don't know why I was nervous, because Garry and Emma were a dream to shoot. They laugh together all the time. They love each other and it shows.

Garry and Emma I cant wait to for your wedding. We're going to have fun!

Me and my 85mm.

My love affair with the 85mm started back when I used the 20D mounted with a 50mm. With the crop factor I was roughly shooting at 85 and I loved it!

I haven't used the lens yet, but am wanting to try it this Sunday for Garry and Emma's pre wedding shoot at East Riddlesden Hall.

Is it an L lens? No. Sadly not.Not this time.But I know that I am going lurve it!

I was so thrilled to be able to this shoot. I have known Janie for about 2 years. She is such a nice person. Random and Fun! When her and Gareth wedd last year, their plans would at some point involve starting a family of their own. Just over a year later, they have started a family all of their own. Just the 3 of them.And of course Rocky.The cat.

He laid there. Still. Quiet.Content. Baby Jacob was on best behaviour. He must have liked the look of the lens the way he sat there and gave no trouble at all.Just posing. Beautifully. At 4 weeks old, life is good. Sleep,feed,look cute,sleep,feed, look cute... ;-)
