LeeAnne and Asa

The 24 hours prior went fast. We were busy. Ticking off the check list, getting nearer to relaxing. When we finally stopped and had our nails painted, we began to chat about the morning to come and how we thought the day was set to go...
The morning came and with it - raindrops. Not what one hopes for on their wedding morning, but it didn't stop any of the excitement, or laughter or happiness that came on my sisters wedding morning. As the make up was applied and the hair sprayed, and the dresses put on. One by one the wedding party was departing, off to where the rest of the day would unfold.

My sister looked beautiful, and was so graceful throughout the day. I wasn't the photographer for the day,but I did manage to get a few in at home and the preparations.
Lee-Anne & Asa, I know you are in Cuba at the moment sunning yourselves, but I hope you had a glorious day... and I pray that you have a happy and blessed life together. Here are a few of my images... (starting from the bottom may give a better running order)

366 Days.

It was a year ago, yesterday. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. I stood near the front in the best position I thought and it was ok. I was just thrilled that someone trusted me to take pictures of their wedding day. I did the best I could. At that time.
I now look back and see my technical faults, see where there was room for massive improvement. And where the improvements have been. A year on and I am proud of myself. I have upgraded my equipment, invested in workshops-in myself, become a dedicated daily follow of people that inspire me. I know I am so early on in my journey, in fact I think I have only just begun. I write this as a stepping stone. A mile mark to remind me of the steps that I'm taking and the improvements I am making.
And because a post is always nicer with a picture.

My first post of March. I haven't blogged in a while and I have missed it. But I am back with a vengeance.Promise. Lately I have been doing more assisting work that actual shooting. But its all good- why-because I'm learning.
On Saturday however, I wasn't assisting I was shooting.Myself and Steve were doing a location shoot for Next One in Leeds. The weather was our friend for a while and towards the end of the day the slow drizzle began to set in. But being professionals we carried on.
Yes.I did just refer to myself in that term. I had a great time as always. It was an awesome team and everyone really jelled. Jay is a very exciting photographer in his own right, and was also being our very lovely assistant for the day. Along with Missy the stylist.
Here are a few from the day. To see more, click HERE and you will be magically imported to another place.... Happy Wednesday

My First.

2 photographers, a Mac and a room full of brides. This was my weekend with Steve from Photography One Weddings at the Yorkshire Wedding show in Leeds. This was my first experience actually having a stall at a wedding fair, and I completely enjoyed it. We were exhibiting -Photography One weddings. Even though I manage Margaurita Photography, I work closely along side Steve. We were able to make some great links with other vendors and the weekend went without a hitch, even the snow couldn't’t stop brides getting out!

We didn't have all the extra gadgets that many others had. But we did have enthusiasm and banter by the bagfuls, and of course a tasty assortment of Thornton treats to lure even the strictest of bridal dieters in! ;-) We had our images on a slide show set to the beautiful voice of Eva Cassidy, and the pictures spoke for themselves. The made people stop and take note. it got me excited and I am looking forward to the upcoming year for Photography One weddings.

Brand spanking new.Sort of.

I cant quite believe that Valentines day is nearly here. Not that I am an obsessive receiver of presents ( but if you want to - feel free!). it just signals the middle of February is here already. The year is going way.too.fast.
With things changing so fast I thought I would take time to update my website. Its fresher, crisper, and more me - at this certain stage. Sort of like going to the hairdresser and getting a trim. Its the same really, but just feels better.
I like change.Staying in the same place too long is not good.

So the new margauritaphotography is on show to all.

Days Like these.

I love days like these.

My day of work today was sooo much fun. It wasn't my regular place and type of work. Instead I was one of 4 delegates, with 3 teachers, 2 models and 1 make up artist.I was at the 3B Media workshop.
Phil, Rob and Barnaby made the day so enjoyable. I was learning without realising and every so often my camera thanked me for my efforts and smiled at me with beautiful images.

This was my first workshop and it definitely wont be my last. It feels so productive using a full day to shoot and meeting new peers in the industry.
I walked away more positive, armed with knowledge and more determined to succeed.

I love days likes these.

Clink on the link below to see some of my images from the day.

A big thank you to the 3B boys ;-)

Moi.

So,it was my turn. Look left,right... over the shoulder..chin up,down.Stop. I was getting head shots done for my new website that is set to launch in a couple of weeks and for my blog. I though it about time that all 2 off my followers know what I look like. And of course for new clients wanting to put a face to my pictures. I now know how my clients feel when I ask them to stand in as may different directions as a compass has and look natural. I don't for one minute think that I have the supermodel sass figured out just yet-but I did realise how fun it can be.Don't get me wrong, my rightful position is looking through the lens, but If i can get the ability to make people relaxed and let their natural self shine through then I think I'm halfway there. My friend Steve of Photographyone weddings has this ability. So thank you Steve for making this fun.

Moi- striking a pose.

Days of choice....

My weekends at the moment are by far my favourite days of the week. This is when I get to choose what I want to do,where I want to go and who I want to see.
The snow made my weekend that little bit nicer. I love the way that it dresses everything to make it look so Narnia like - minus the ice queen ;-) So, me and Jim chose to walk to the park and round the woods with the dogs. I mentioned in an earlier post that I am teaching myself to shoot manual, and what better model to help me than Millie, the infamous poodle. They say the eyes say it all.....

Remeber to Breathe.

Breathe.1,2.Breathe. That's s how I feel.
Waiting is a hard game to play-but it teaches you. It teaches patience. It makes you appreciate what you have and at the minute what you don't.
My days currently are not running exactly to how I want them to be.But it's OK, because I know that I am going somewhere, and that I am on the path to where I need to be.
2010 is going to be big for me. I am going to make it so. I just need to remember to breathe.

Where the roses used to be.

They say you should take time to smell the roses, but I cant find any at this time of year. However, I do have a beautiful canal to walk down, where I can take pictures of where roses used to be. I like taking pictures of my canal. The leaves, flowers and anything else that takes my interest.
I'm challenging myself -no,training myself to take pictures everyday. Teaching myself to work from manual.Learning how to make my camera work with me and for me. I have standards that I want to reach and goals that I want to achieve. When I look back in a year from now I need to see progress and change.I may not be able to make the whole change overnight but I can change one thing- daily.

St.Ives

I'm not sure if I have always been this way.Maybe its just because I'm older that I realize time is flying by and you cant freeze it. But I cant help trying. There are 2 people in my life who are extremely important and make me a lot of who I am. I recently made a DVD of their pictures that we had in the attic, and it spread through 35 years-of love. But I wanted something recent, something that I had taken and captured through my eyes. My mum and dad are still in love. So in love. I gave them a picture of themselves as part of their christmas presents. I intend in giving them many more :-) Here a few from the day....
